GTM Deprecation Notice (web) 2020-02-15

Hi guys, as an effort to standardize external tracking library in web, we decided to decommission GTM (Google Tag Manager) in favor of in-house tracking manager created by Juan Gunawan.

What is external tracking library? 3rd party tracking library used in Traveloka web: e.g. Facebook, Google ads, LinkedIn, Bing, etc. Currently they are managed by GTM but we want them to be managed by our own tracking manager.

Why?

Current GTM setup does not support code review which poses security, quality, and performance concern.
Changes in GTM bypass weekly QA/QE test cycle as it is applied in production directly: reliability concern.
New external tracking manager is optimized to only load tracking script if the tracking script is actually called: performance improvement.

When? On 2020-02-15, web-infra will remove GTM from www repo. Please schedule migration plan for external tracking script in your products before the specified date.
