June-July Eid Holiday, Retros, OKRs, Perf Review

Hi all! Hope freeze period & Ramadan fasting (for you who practice) are going okay so far. Today is only 1 week before Eid holiday, and less than a month left on Q2, and some of us are starting Q3-Q4 planning already.

The Q3-Q4 planning period is a bit awkward due to mid-June Eid holiday, but you guys should first enjoy a good rest and family time and we can be a little flexible with OKR setting deadlines (“plans are useless but planning is indispensable” anyway).

This is what we ask you to do, and what you can expect:

1) Publish your initial Retros + OKR before June 29

Please publish your Q1-Q2 retrospectives here (link from this document), esp. the ones you want to share publicly with others

The summary of context and top level company and tech teams OKRs will also be linked from those root documents before June 29.

2) Iterate OKRs through June, July

You publish your initial OKR with the expectation that you’ll be approached by other teams, to realign, reiterate over and over again over several weeks. And the OKRs might be slowly changing converging asymptotically towards perfect alignment (but will never reach it).

Over the weeks to come, approach your dependencies, stakeholders, and collaborators to make sure their OKRs align with yours to make sure they wouldn’t be failure factors for your objectives.

3) Perf Review upgraded, started July 3rd/4th week

Start of another Performance Review Cycle for Tech teams.

Key changes:

Performance Review is ideally done in Jakarta due to multiple calibrating participants from various countries, so please prepare your flight schedule accordingly.
