Procedure to report issue @ ERP
Procedure to report issue @ ERP:
- Create Asana task like this example: https://app.asana.com/0/14460596718772/208624716145711, detailing the issue, the circumstances it occurred, and the steps to reproduce.
- Mention @enterprise-engineers at #enterprise-channel regarding the issue and the link to the newly created Asana task.
- On-call engineer at Enterprise will inquiry for more details if the problem is not clear enough, possibly will ask the more detailed step to reproduce the problem to the reporter.
- The progress will be updated on the Asana; Slack will only be used for quick communication. Important details should be communicated on Asana instead to be left on Slack. Please don't DM except very sensitive information (shouldn't be happen)
- The on-call engineer is to communicate whether work-around is available; If work-around is available, it should be the highest priority to do in order to unblock the progress. The proper fix shouldn't be done in hurry. If no work-around is available and the issue is blocking someone's urgent and important task then it's P0 to be fixed immediately.
For prioritization, the basic rule is:
- P0 (blocker) means we need to do it right away, must be fixed or else we can't go home. It's only for severe cases, i.e. ERP down and need to be restarted, database outage, etc. We will immediately do it.
- P1 (must) means we must do it before the other non-blocking cases, as the issue will make someone else job become very miserable/unable to meet deadline if not fixed.
- P2 (should) means we should do it, time and resource permitting (remember, we have other priorities too, for example to ensure finance pipeline for new processes can go live as scheduled).
- P3 (might) get fixed later......
- P4 (noted) very close to black hole......... yay (but remember, most likely it's the ideal state, our dream, our utopia... so we still have to keep it on the list so we can refer to it later)
I hope @putu can help the assessment of all ERP requests
